Providence & Potter

Welcome to Providence & Potter, we are one of the last makers of fine die struck jewelry. Die striking is an ancient art similar to minting coins. the jeweler carves the desired image in steel, allowing them to stamp out the jewelry repeatedly under the force of a drop hammer.

Once the most common way that jewelry was produced, the centuries old craft rapidly disappeared with the onset of advances in casting, 3d printing, and deindustrialization.

The goal of Providence & Potter is to preserve and advance this method of jewelry making. Over the past 15 years we have traveled across America and Europe buying the Hub and Die collections of old jewelry companies and archiving the collections. Today we haver over 70 companies with designs ranging from the 1780s to the 1980s, however we still make new ones today.
